What is a soft scale crested gecko!?
Discovered in 2003 by Anthony Caponetto of ACReptiles, the soft scale gene is co-dominant mutation that becomes very apparent in its super (homozygous) form. True to their name, these “Super-Soft Scale” geckos have noticeably softer skin than their non-super form kin.
Soft scale geckos also exhibit brighter colors, a "cleaned up" pattern, and other traits including eye color variations that are still being studied. An updated article is in the works and will be posted here soon!
